Bonus Guest Episode: Rob Carroll

Rob Carrol is the latest guest for our bonus mini-episode run. Rob is a music publicist, writer, and general supporter of all things Australian music. Seminal indie night Rare Finds was one of Rob’s baby’s, growing it to a full east coast tour after a while. Rob now heads up Good Intent, a music publicity org. He also writes for the very good UK music blogs, The Line of Best Fit and The 405

Rob has a good chat about discovering ‘Fucked Up Over You’, by Ro, one of his favourite songs of 2018.

You can stream the track here

Bonus Guest Episode: Adam Jones

Adam Jones is a name you might not know. You definitely have heard his work though. In, fact you're probably about to hear it soon - Adam is responsible for the incredible theme music you hear each and every week on the pod.

Adam and Miks go back a fair few years after meeting at an early Gang Of Youths show in 2013. Adam is a brilliant musician in his own right, producing music under the guise of The Ship Shape. He is currently working on sound for theatre shows and also does the theme for Mikstape, Miks's other show on Play On Radio.

Adam tells us about one of his favourite local tracks of 2018, 'Change' by JOY.

You can stream the track here

You can check out Adam's project The Ship Shape here.

[Insert comment here about how Adam does the theme music but he's actually the guest on the pod for this ep and thanking him again would look a litle OTT, but really, when you think about it, he's actually well deserving of the additional thanks because he's quite great at what he does, and yes, generous too].

Bonus Guest Episode: Zac Abroms

Very excited to have Zac Abroms from Viceroyalty jumping on this bonus mini-ep.

Zac manages an AMD fave Alice Ivy as well as a couple of others. If you've ever participated in the Melbourne music scene, you've probably come into some sorta contact with Zac. He's either organised the event you went to, did PR for the artist you love, or you've seen him at a show.

Zac has a good ol' rave about CERES and their big tune from 2018, 'Viv In The Front Seat'.

Eilish Gilligan jumps on the the latest of our bonus mini-episode to tell us about her favourite Australian release from 2018.

We’ve been fans of Eilish for a while now. Eilish has just released her new single, ‘The Pull’. You can stream that here. We were big fans of her single, ‘Patterns’ last year, so it’s a bit exciting to have Eilish herself have a rave on the pod.

We got an extra special bonus mini-ep this time ‘round, featuring not one, but two guests! Adam Buncher and David James Young make up half of the excellent podcast Hottest 100s and 1000s, that poddy that unpacks every single song of every single Hottest 100 poll. They’ve been going for a fair few years now, and finished their fifth season, talking through each song of the 1998 Hottest 100 last year.

Both DJY and Adam have excellent taste, and both have chosen vastly different songs!

You can hear DJY chat bare about 5 Seconds of Summer (YES!). Adam chats about Julia Jacklin’s excellent tune ‘Body’.

Stream 5SOS here.
